Welcome to
SHIBARI STUDIO BERLIN
— a dedicated space for workshops, private tuitions and sessions, and artistic projects, led by Dan Carabas.
New to Shibari? Start with our Berlin guide:
This is a creative and intimate space founded in early 2024 by multidisciplinary artist Dan Carabas. A studio for Shibari learning, exploration, and visual storytelling.
At the heart of the studio are our Tantric Shibari Workshops: a curated blend of Shibari and Tantra designed to deepen presence, trust, polarity, and intimacy between partners. These guided sessions focus on presence, intention, and body awareness, offering a grounded approach to intimacy through ropes.
We also offer Private Tuition & Sessions, plus artistic photo and film productions—creating sculptural, high-end imagery for individuals and couples.
Explore our “Tension & Trust” — Shibari Journal, with reflections, behind-the-scenes insights, and practical guidance from the studio. And dive into our evolving Shibari Gallery — a visual archive of rope, bodies, and atmosphere.
We explore desire, control, surrender, and connection through ropes, playing with a strong sense of polarity and intimacy. Every session is an invitation to dive deep into the intimate language of Shibari and Kinbaku.
We embrace the beauty of rope not only as an art form but as a framework for exciting and intentional exploration of polarities and dynamics between intimate partners. Whether you’re a couple seeking deeper connection, an artist craving inspiration, or a rope enthusiast ready to sharpen your skills — this is where you can learn "the art of Shibari with intention."
Instructed by Dan Carabas, this focused practice emphasizes tying one’s partner in an intimate and sensual way, fostering a deep connection and meaningful communication through the ropes.
Tension & Trust
– A Shibari Journal –
Interviews, Art, Practice, and Essays from the Shibari Studio Berlin
From the studio floor in Berlin-Mitte, Tension & Trust explores Shibari as a contemporary art form and embodied practice. The journal brings together personal reflections, behind-the-scenes insights from photo shoots and workshops, and visual narratives rooted in fine art photography and film. It functions as a living archive of experiences, aesthetics, and ideas emerging from the Shibari Studio Berlin.
Alongside the work of artist and founder Dan Carabas, the journal features interviews and portraits of riggers, models, educators, and artists who shape today’s international Shibari and Kinbaku scene — from Berlin and across the global rope community.
Tension & Trust is written for those drawn to rope in all its forms: from quietly curious beginners to experienced practitioners and professionals. The journal approaches Shibari as art, as a language of touch, and as a relational practice, inviting readers to explore presence, intimacy, and connection through rope.
